Why is it green?
Each LUVMI jewel is made entirely by hand in Italy, with care, artisan savoir faire and an obsessive attention to detail.
The pieces that make up each necklace are carved from surplus or offcuts of cellulose acetate, a natural, non-petroleum-based fiber derived from cotton and wood pulp. Cellulose acetate is often mistakenly called 'plastic' but it has nobler origins: it is sustainable, hypoallergenic, durable and even biodegradable. It is the material used to produce fashion accessories, especially eyewear, by luxury brands. LUVMI uses precisely these surpluses to give a second life to beautiful materials that would otherwise have to be disposed of.
Each piece is modeled, polished with a mechanical process (without chemical gloss) and finally assembled and finished by hand in our workshop.
All LUVMI necklaces also have an eco packaging: they come in a cotton dust bag hand-sewn from scraps of fabric from an ancient Neapolitan tailor's shop.
